Check this pdf http://www.eslared.org.ve/articulos/Long%20Distance%20WiFi%20Trial.pdf it is a record distance for wifi. I noticed that they were using off the shelf product that was modified. It looks like an amplifier was used. Nevertheless, when you have the proper equipment you can do anything. I was wondering were they using wireless Mesh?

Wind Vibration and Prototypes
Well you think that you have seen everything and then something new appears. I had one of my units go down. No signal no nothing. It was accessible and went to see what had happen. I was told that the wind start to vibrate the enclosurer. The vibration shook the unit and a few items can disconnected, i.e. ethernet CAT 5 cable and the radio card. Now here is the funny thing. Both these items clip into either ethernet port or mpci port. Both clips failed. It looks like I have to glue down or remount these clips. The problem with gluing the mounts are that they will not be interchangeable if failure occurs. If I use a mechanical clamp that mean additional cost. There has to be a better solution out there?

Buying parts from your local drug store
I was in London, Ontario last weekend and I had to go to the local drug store. Now the store was a national chain and had a camera section. In the camera section where CF-Flash cards 1-8 Gigs. It wasn't that long ago that we were paying premium to get 64 megs and now for $20 dollar you can get these cards from your corner druggist. If only they sold components as well? You know a motherboard, ram, radio card with prism chips would be great.
It's good to find components that can be interchange with other technologies such camera and consumer items. Could one assume in the coming years that you could find parts for a MeshAP from your local variety store? See hear, I would like a stick of Gum, 3 Litres of milk, 128 meg ram, oh buns I almost for got buns, and yes that 1 gig mother board. Oh through in the case for good measure.
Now I not making fun of the retail chains but having components for sale at the retail level could be really fun.
Can you imagine sending your children to the store? I said a CF to IDE convert not a DOM? Ok I use the DOM but next time listen, and no substitutions.
Meshing away.

Wireless Mesh Trends
What's hot and what's not? Well according to Google wireless mesh is trending slowly downward, please see http://www.google.ca/trends?q=wireless+mesh&ctab=0&hl=en
Now understand www.google.com/trends you can see that most of the trends come from searches and from articles. But why is this important? I noticed that I saw a flurry of activity on my website at the beginning of the year. I also noticed a drop in June. This is seasonal activities. My website however has seen a steady increase from month to month. I believe this is good because many people are interested in Wireless Mesh.
However looking at Googles statistic they have different regions showing trends. Well this mean that my web site is seeking a different audience than Googles Trends.
Nevertheless I did see a sharp drop in Wimax technology. Mhh it looks like wireless mesh is doing ok.

Trends in Wireless Mesh
I noticed that Google has a new system that search out Trends on the internet. What I see is that these trends are based on articles written. I'm not sure if they are key word searchs however I search "Wireless Mesh" and found that Korea is the number one country try to adopt this technology. See http://www.google.com/trends?q=wireless+mesh&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all&sort=0
I'm not too sure how Google Trends actually works but I think that with Google News being associated with Trends that this is how the trends are derived.
If this is the case then Wireless Mesh is really taking off. If you look for wireless mesh open source or even Locustworld the trend does not have enough information.
So if you know the trends for Open Source Wireless Mesh please let me know.

Heater for MeshAP
Back in the days a number of years ago I was uncertain if a motherboard could survey the cold Canadian Climate. After years of experimentation I can safely conclude that the temperature in Toronto may be cold a few weeks but not affect the motherboards performance. However, I came across a small heater and blower for IP cameras that may work with MeshAP. It is located http://www.smartvisiondirect.com/index.php?ca_id=47&it_id=52&query=item. Now if you look at the casing it contains a heater and blower. I noticed at other websites you can buy this as a separate item the heater and blower.
Keeping the motherboard in an outdoor enclosure has always been a challenge. It looks like a good product.
